| NIC
started functioning in 1977. Since then it has grown incrementally and later exponentially
as one of India's major S&T organisations, promoting informatics led development. In
1984-85, Government of India decided to extend the NIC services to State Governments,
Union Territory Administrations and District administrations in the country. NIC has setup
a nation-wide network NICNET
over which state-of-the- art services are being provided. NIC district centres (District
Informatics Centres or DICs) provide ICT support to local
administration and government / semi government agencies at district level. District Informatics Centre (DIC) at Ujjain (M.P.) was established in 1988. Initially 1 rooms were given for the centre. In 1998, one more room was added to DIC. One more rooms was provided to establish Video Conferencing facilities in Sep. 2004 NIC is serving it's services through two officers functioning as District Informatics Officer (DIO) and District Informatics Associate (DIA) who are responsible for extending all kind of Computer & IT support to the District Administration as well as Judiciary Administration and the other Central and State government offices functioning within the District. |
